Dr Quentin Shaw elected as the Chairperson of the South African National Committee on Large Dams (SANCOLD)

ARQ is proud to announce that Dr Quentin Shaw was elected as the Chairperson of the South African National Committee on Large Dams (SANCOLD) at the management committee meeting at the end of February.  The term of office is 2017 to 2019. Quentin has served on the Management Committee of SANCOLD since 2010 and was Vice-Chairman from 2012 to 2016. Quentin also serves as the South African representative of the ICOLD Committee on Concrete Dams…
Quentin was also recently made a Fellow of the UK Institution of Civil Engineers.

ARQ Consulting Engineers was represented at the ICOLD Annual Meeting and Symposium in Johannesburg, South Africa from 16 to 20 May 2016 by Dr Quentin Shaw, Mrs Michelle Blaeser, Messrs David Cameron-Ellis, Albert Duffy and Henry-John Wright.

First Southern African Geotechnical Conference May 2016

Four members of ARQ’s geotechnical team attended the First Southern African Geotechnical Conference at Sun City on 4-6 May 2016. The conference was well supported by the Southern African geotechnical community with over 200 delegates attending and 53 papers presented. Alan Parrock, Marie Basson, Louis du Plessis and Katy O’Brien thoroughly enjoyed the many technical presentations and the general programme set within the beautiful Pilanesberg surroundings.
